ASMR · Rain
First Unity app shipped under the studio. A loopable rain soundscape with a procedural visual layer. Mostly an excuse to learn Unity's animation pipeline.
The why
First Unity app under the studio. We wanted to ship something small to learn the engine end to end. UI, audio looping, build pipeline, store submission.
The constraint of "finish and submit" matters more than the project. Without that, you have a tutorial.
The approach
A loopable rain soundscape with three intensity levels. Procedural visuals in the background: a particle system simulating rain on a window with subtle parallax. Volume controls, dark mode, no ads, no analytics.
Around 14MB to download. Holds 60fps on a 2018-era phone. Built so it could run for hours without warming the device.
What we learned
Unity's audio looping is fiddly. Gapless loops require exact sample boundaries, and most audio editors don't make this obvious.
The procedural background was overengineered. Most users minimize the app and treat it as audio-only. Build effort doesn't always go where users put attention.
Status
Shipped 2023. Stable, in maintenance mode. Modest download numbers, decent retention.
